I absolutely love drinkable wellness shots! There’s something so energizing about them, and it’s a great way to use up some fresh fruits and veggies from your fridge. This week I’m sharing two recipes for shots to boost your immunity or your skin. Enjoy!
Lemon Ginger Turmeric Wellness Shot
This 5-ingredient wellness shot recipe has anti-inflammatory benefits, a mega-dose of vitamin C, and a delicate balance of flavors to create the ultimate juice to boost immunity. These shots can be described as citrusy, spicy, immune boosting, & super tasty. This shot is perfect for when you’re just feeling like you need a little boost. It’s great for wellness and can be taken daily!
INGREDIENTS:
– 1 small orange (add 1-2 more oranges for added sweetness / omit and add another lemon for less sweetness!)
– 2 small lemons (add 1-2 more lemons for more acidity / reduce by half and add another orange for less acidity!)
– ¼ cup of chopped fresh turmeric (peeling optional)
– ¼ cup of chopped fresh ginger (peeling optional)
– 4 drops of Doterra Black Pepper Oil (find online)
DIRECTIONS:
-Add orange, lemon, turmeric, and ginger to your juicer. Depending on the juicer, you may need to peel the orange and lemon first.
-Add a little water if it has trouble blending but you shouldn’t need any. Then strain through a thin dish towel, small fine mesh strainer, or nut milk bag. Just be aware that turmeric can stain!
-Divide between serving glasses and enjoy! For maximum benefits, enjoy immediately and top with fresh cracked black pepper. One commenter also recommended adding a little fat to improve turmeric absorption, such as olive oil!
These shots are best when consumed fresh, but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
Cucumber Beet Radish Beauty Shot
I love this for my skin! This combo is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, fatty acids and more, and is a great way to boost moisture and brighten your complexion from the inside out.
INGREDIENTS:
-1 Beet
-1 Cucumber
-6 Radishes
-1 Dropper of Sakara Life Beauty and Detox Water additives (You can get those online – I use them daily. You can use them in any shot as well)
DIRECTIONS:
Chop your ingredients and add them to your juicer, strain if needed, and add your drops to the mixture before serving.
Why Beets? — Beetroot happens to be a powerhouse of potassium, folate, antioxidants, fiber, and vitamin C. The ingredients work together to fight acne, prevent signs of aging, fade pigmentation, and brighten the complexion.
Why Cucumber? — Cucumber helps keep the face fresh and glowing, owing to the silica and high-water content. Cucumbers, being rich in potassium and Vitamin E, nourish and moisturize the face well, and keep your skin HYDRATED!
Why Radishes? — The high-water content in radishes is good for your skin as well as other body organs, helping to maintain moisture levels. Radishes also contain both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are critical for plumping moisture down in the deeper levels of skin.
I absolutely love shots! You can make any of my juices into shots, and if you aren’t into juices try my smoothie recipe or my detox clay water. Don’t forget you can freeze the pulp from the wellness and beauty shots into ice cubes to add to later smoothies or water glasses.
XOXO,
Heather Marianna
