Did you know that avocado boasts some pretty amazing skin AND hair benefits? Because It’s rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, this superfood makes a great ingredient in hair care for that extra boost of moisture and nourishment. This week I’m bringing you a little DIY magic for the new year with an easy avocado hair mask recipe. Give your locks some extra love this week!

INGREDIENTS
• 1 ripe avocado
• 2 tablespoons of olive oil (you can also use coconut oil)
• 1 tablespoon of honey (for added moisture)
• Optional: a few drops of essential oil like lavender or rosemary (for fragrance and extra hair benefits)

INSTRUCTIONS
– Step 1 Prepare the Avocado: Cut a ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh into a bowl. Mash it until you have a smooth avocado puree. You can also use a blender or food processor for a smoother consistency.
– Step 2 Add Olive Oil: Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the mashed avocado. Olive oil is excellent for deep hair conditioning and adds shine.
– Step 3 Mix in Honey: Add 1 tablespoon of honey to the mixture. Honey is a natural humectant, which means it helps your hair retain moisture.
– Optional Add Essential Oil: If you want to add a pleasant scent and extra benefits for your hair, include a few drops of your preferred essential oil.
– Step 4 Combine Thoroughly: Mix all the ingredients well until you have a smooth, creamy hair mask.

APPLICATION
– Dampen Your Hair: Before applying the mask, make sure your hair is slightly damp. You can either wet your hair in the shower or use a spray bottle.

– Apply the Mask: Section your hair and apply the avocado mask generously from roots to tips. Make sure to focus on the ends, as they tend to be the most damaged.

– Massage In: Gently massage your scalp to stimulate circulation, which can promote healthy hair growth.

– Wrap Your Hair: Once your hair is coated with the mask, gather it on top of your head and cover it with a shower cap or a warm, damp towel. This helps create a warm environment that allows the mask to penetrate your hair.

– Wait: Leave the mask on for about 20-30 minutes. You can also leave it on for longer if you prefer.

– Rinse and Shampoo: After the waiting period, rinse out the mask with lukewarm water. You may need to shampoo your hair to remove all the oil and mask residue.

– Style as Usual: Once your hair is clean and dry, style it as you normally would. You’ll likely notice that your hair is softer, shinier, and more manageable.

Using this DIY avocado hair mask once a week can help keep your hair healthy, especially if you have dry or damaged hair. Enjoy your luscious locks! Comment on my latest Instagram post at @AskHeatherMariannaBlog with your review of this mask and follow along for more tips and tricks!
