Well, it’s December 17th as I write this and I’m enjoying a wild Friday night creating my VISION BOARD for 2022. I usually like to set quarterly goals, but this board is going to be for both Q1 & Q2, 2022. I have a lot of things I’m going accomplish and I know everything will be checked off by June 30th, 2022, which is also my birthday month, so perfect! There are several studies that show people who visualized a positive outcome were more likely to take concrete steps to make their goals happen. Everyone knows that I’m a firm believer in “Manifesting”, as it’s called in the mainstream.
Vison boards became mainstream about 15 years ago when the popular movie The Secret came on the scene. I remember watching this movie on repeat and thinking, “I’m already doing this!” I’ve been practicing this since I was a kid actually. I also have done many interviews where I shared about how I journaled every day when I was starting Beauty Kitchen and the things I wrote in that journal. I still keep all my old journals and will be using those journals for the book I plan to write in the next few years.
I think making a vison board keeps you on track and helps you really look at what you want to achieve in life. I’m very picky about my vison boards — I like to make sure I’m really thinking about what I want. I firmly believe that what you put out you get in the universe, so be careful. I am always specific. Today I went to Barnes and Noble to get all the best magazines for the project, well duh. I’ve also hosted many vision board classes with friends! If you’re looking for a fun New Year’s event with friends, or even a non-boozy NYE, I absolutely suggest doing this! I never go out New Year’s Eve. I feel that this is a really powerful day, and we don’t want to waste it with nonsense like booze and parties. I usually leave Jan 1 for my NYE celebrations, not hungover.

Here are a couple reasons why I think Vison Boards work.
Vision Boards Prime Your Brain to Recognize Opportunity
That’s because the brain has a process called “value-tagging,” which imprints important things onto your subconscious and filters out unnecessary information. The brain assigns a higher “value” to images than written words on a “to-do” list. You see the images every day and you really want to achieve it. When I do this, I naturally come up with new ways to make money, new clients, new ideas, and the rest is history!
Seeing is Being
Visualization is another way action boards work. When looking at the pictures on your board that represent what you hope to achieve, you should be able to visualize what it feels like to already be there. You may also want to visualize yourself doing what it takes to achieve your goal, step by step. Nothing happens by sitting on your ass, so you need to put in the work. Get up and show up every single day!
So, what will you put on your 2022 vision board? Tag me @AskHeatherMariannaBlog on insta and share, I love reposting. I’ll keep mine a secret for now and post it end of June, so stay tuned!
Happy Planning!
XOXO, Heather
