Ranch Island Rescue, or as I call it “fantasy island”, is a magical gem hidden away in Las Vegas where animals are saved and cared for. The community is completely vegan, and if you’re lucky enough to be one of the cool kids, you can hang there and connect with them – if you are willing to follow the rules that is. No smoking cigarettes, no children, no dogs (Baron was very sad about this), and there is NO Non-Vegan food allowed on the property, well duh.
The rescue is run by a man named Trench, who 13 years ago decided to go vegan and never eat animals again (contrary to some people’s versions of vegan, it does not include eating seafood, that would be a pescatarian). He made it his life’s mission to educate everyone who’s willing to listen about becoming vegan. Trench (@TrenchVegan on Instagram), along with three other people and select volunteers, lives on the rescue property and maintains the upkeep of the animals.

Ranch Island Rescue is, as I said, more than a rescue. It’s a community. By invite only you can attend events like $20 Vegan Taco Tuesdays, fitness classes poolside, and other activities that are free to join. So how can one become a part of this amazing rescue community? There are several ways that you can get involved from donating, volunteering, and even sponsoring or adopting an animal. An animal sponsorship link can be found on the @RanchIslandRescue Instagram page and you can cruise all their cute animal pics. Who doesn’t love that?!

Being that Ranch Island Rescue is a 5013C, a registered non-profit with a board, things do need to go through an approval process. They do allow people to use their gorgeous property for photoshoots (if you are a model, this is THE PROPERTY to shoot on), and they allow selected events and so forth for a donation amount (once again upon approval). The best way to find out if you can get your shoot or event approved is to send a message to them on Instagram or email them through their website www.RIRAnimalSanctuary.com.

Trench, while very easy on the eyes, isn’t so savvy with the website side of things, so he is currently looking for an animal loving volunteer to help with that! Calling all tech savvy vegans, a great opportunity here. If you’d like to stay tuned in to their current events, be sure to sign up for their newsletter, which is being revamped as we speak.
I’ve learned a TON about the vegan life from Trench, and was inspired to cut down my meat intake and up my juicing and veggie intake, and I feel fantastic overall. I really urge you all to get involved with the Ranch Island Rescue and meet the wonderful people there, send an email, and make a donation.

Here are some links I found online with some great information on going VEGAN! And if you attend RIR’s Tacos Nights I promise you won’t even realize its vegan! The food is SO GOOD!
