I don’t know about you guys, but COVID and the stay-at-home order really made me go nuts with my hair. I was so stressed out that I took to experimenting. I went from black to red, then brown, then ultimately blonde (which really jacked up my hair BADLY) and finally back to black. I was so bored that I kept thinking about ways to change my appearance. It seemed like changing up my hair, creating new home skin remedies, and not packing on the pounds were my main areas of focus (other than work). But for some reason, I kept going back to my hair — always the hair.
I have been wanting to go blonde for so long. Last summer I actually rocked a blonde wig for a while. It was so fun but sooo hot, but it satisfied my blonde ambition for a moment. Since then, it’s resurfaced and resurfaced bad! I kept thinking over and over again, “Let’s just do it!” In May, I finally decided to start the process. I actually went with a vibrant red first because I was told by not one, but four colorists not to dye my hair blonde. As the red faded into a dirty brown, things got worse. I decided since my hair was already dirty brown, why couldn’t I go blonde?! “Here we go” I thought. I went to two places and got back-to-back dye jobs within weeks (so dumb). Needless to say, my hair is now damaged and so short, and I am in a full-on recovery journey to get my long, black locks back again. Since I’m sure that I’m not the only one hit by the COVID hair craze, I wanted to share with you some of the things I’m doing to keep my hair from falling out and getting it back on track!

“It was all worth this one photo.”
Vitamins
First off, I’m upping the hair vitamins. I take quite a few daily, probably a little overkill, but here are the ones I like:
-HUM Nutrition makes Hair Sweet Hair Vegan Hair Growth Gummies that I really like for on-the-go gummies. I chew them like candy.
-I also take two of the MoonJuice brand SuperHair Vitamins every morning before I leave the house, or at my desk while I eat breakfast.
-Finally, I also add collagen to my water. Why not?! It adds flavor and works wonders for your hair, skin, and nails. My favorite is Collagen Beauty Glow™
Extra Hair Maintenance
-I’ve been going to Andy (my bestie Peggy’s stylist) and getting frequent trims and proper coloring, no more box dyes!
-I’m sleeping in hair masks more frequently and getting Milbon treatments with my blowout at Sparkles Beauty Bar
-On days that I leave the house with a messy wet bun, I leave jojoba oil in my hair to strengthen it.
Restraint
Finally, I’m resisting the urge to get hair extensions. If you are in this situation like me, just learn to deal with it and stay on track. Remember it’s just hair, it will grow back. In the meantime, I’m utilizing YouTube and Sparkles Beauty Bar to learn some new shorter hair styles and make the most with what I’ve got!
